Style Spotlight: Sonia Rykiel

Fun and fresh. This is the alliteration I will use to describe Sonia Rykiel's designs. Her work is always amazing, and the Spring 2012 collection is not an exception. I could go on and on about all the reasons I love Sonia Rykiel, but the main reason is that she is such an incredible woman. Knowing her story gives her designs a whole knew meaning. Do some searcher about her; I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Look of the Day: Feeling Blue

Blue is my favorite color. This is not a secret by any stretch of the imagination, but at times it can be a bit of a problem. For example last night I was trying to figure out what to wear out to dinner and was having difficulty putting together an outfit. This was because at least 85% of my wardrobe is blue or some variation of navy. While I managed to pull together this monochromatic look which I like, I think I am going to make conscious effort to avoid purchasing blue items. At least, for a while. Do you think this is a good idea?
P.S. The sun is casting a weird yellowish glow on most of the pictures. Sorry! Also, I have no idea why the picture of my shoes is sideways.

Look of the Day: Sunny

The sun has finally come out! To celebrate, I'm wearing one of my happiest outfits. A fun floral dress, a bright yellow jacket a found a few weeks ago on deep discount, and (although you can't see it) a Beatles t-shirt. All three of which can instantly brighten my mood.
P.S. When we took these pictures the wind was blowing like crazy!

Wishing for Wednesday: Hunter Wellies

Happy Leap Day, everyone!
This week's edition of Wishing for Wednesday is all about Hunter Wellies. Why do I want a pair? Honestly, I have no idea, seeing as I've never worn a pair of rain boots in my life. Despite this, I have a sneaking suspicion that they would go with everything in my closet. I love the variety of fun colors that Hunter Wellies provides, and the quality is fantastic. I need to go out and buy a pair!
I love the classic look of these.

This is the pair that I want the most. The basic black ensures that they would go with a myriad of outfits, but the texture keeps them from becoming boring.

Neons!

Style Spotlight: Jaeger London

Jaeger London's designs are a breath of fresh air. I must admit that up until very recently I was unaware of this designer. This is a most grievous offense, because once I took one glance at their Spring 2012 collection I was in love. Between the feminine silhouettes, girly details, and soft color palette there is plenty to adore. Jaeger London is a brand that I will definitely keep track of in the future.

Look of the Day: Splash of Blue

Today was one of those days that everything seems kind of...well, blah. The weather outside has turned wet and nasty, and the sky has blanketed everything in a dismal shade of gray. It was one of those days that you want nothing more than to stay curled up under the covers with nothing but a cup of hot chocolate to keep you company. Since there were places I had to be today, I couldn't afford this luxury. Still, I found a way to keep my spirits up with this bright blue, studded skirt.
P.S. The lighting on these photos is really weird. Not only does the skirt not look as bright as it should, my face looks really shiny. Sorry!

Look of the Day: Metallics

Truth be told, I'm not really a heels person. Not that I don't love the look, I do, but I have difficulty walking in them. Not to mention that at 5'7" I'm already taller than most people I know. Despite this, when I saw these loafer style heels in a magazine over a year ago, I fell in love. However, $119 was a hefty price tag for a pair of shoes that I probably wouldn't wear very often, if ever. Imagine my excitement when a few weeks ago I found them on deep clearance for $27. It was much too good of a deal to pass up.
This long back story leads us to today, when I was struck with the urge to wear these heels for the first time. They had simply been sitting in my closet, still wrapped in the tissue paper from the store. I am fully aware that the tights don't match well with the heels, but over all, I like the look.
P.S. I'm not sure if you can tell with the lighting, but the sweater is silver. Really silver. I love it.
P.S.S. It's snowing! Its sooo pretty outside.
